Craig Legg
Anchor Artist at East Village Arts
At East Village Arts, Craig Legg isa creative force whose work and mentorship have long inspired others to see art as both personal expression and civic action. His devotion takes form not in prayer but in creation—paint, words, and imagination that strengthen the community around him.
Deeply rooted in Birmingham’s cultural landscape, Craig embodies EVA’s mission to connect art with community. His leadership reminds us that when artists are empowered, neighborhoods are revitalized, and creativity becomes a shared resource that lifts everyone.
Nearly every day, you’ll find him in his studio, transforming Birmingham’s stories into art—portraits of its jazz greats, vivid scenes inspired by the 2022 World Games, and a continuing series celebrating the city’s rock-and-roll legacy. His work honors the past while inspiring the next generation to see creativity as a way to care for and connect a community.
Craig chooses presence over prominence, depth over display. EVA is thrilled to have an artist resident like Craig's,whose work and spirit keep our village anchored, alive, and always becoming.
