🎨Create. Connect. Belong.
At East Village Arts, our Resident Artists enjoy studios that are more than workspaces—they’re small sanctuaries of imagination where creativity, collaboration, and community take root. Located inside our historic 8,000-square-foot building in Birmingham’s East Lake neighborhood, each studio reflects the character of both the artist and the architecture.
Varied studio sizes to fit different disciplines—painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, writing, design, and mixed media.
High ceilings, natural light, and vintage details that honor the building’s history.
24/7 access for resident artists.
Use of shared spaces: comfy seating area, cafe tables and chairs, hospitality area, kitchen, restroom, utility sink.
Inclusion in EVA’s Open Studio Saturdays and community exhibitions.
Access to marketing support through EVA’s website and social media.
Free scheduling privileges for the private conference room and discounted venue rentals.
Studio residency is open to artists at any career stage who value creative independence and community engagement. A minimum three-month commitment is required, with affordable monthly rates designed to sustain artists while helping maintain the building and shared resources.
Resident artists contribute to EVA’s creative ecosystem by opening their doors for periodic public events. Artists maintain proceeds for the art sold from their studios.
